Scarring (Including Acne Scarring)

What Is It?

The term "scarring" refers to a fibrous process in which new collagen is laid down to heal a full-thickness injury.

Acne scars are marks left on your skin after pimples have gone away. Most people will have pimples in their lifetime, but not all pimples will leave scars.

​

A keloid scar is a smooth, firm and raised lump of skin that can form anywhere the skin has been damaged. Damage to the skin can occur from cuts, burns, piercings, tattoo needles, surgery, acne or insect bites. 

​

What Treatments are Available for Scarring?

Our Dermatologists and Registered Nurses can offer a range of treatment options for Acne Scarring, Keloid Scarring, Burn Scars, Surgical Scars and Chickenpox Scars.

​

The most appropriate treatment will depend on your skin type. For lighter skin types, Ablative Laser can be used while Laser Genesis is suitable for darker skin types. Skin needling is another option that can be used on both light and darker skin types. depending on severity.
